The Guide
This is a step-by-step guide on how to go about joining the Cats in the Clans community.
Step 1 ~ Joining
Register. Once you’ve registered it’s a good idea to change your username to the character you will be roleplaying as (unless you used that name to begin with). This will help people identify you. It’s also a good idea to introduce yourself in the ‘Hello’ board.
Step 2 ~ Picking a Clan
The first thing you need to do is choose what Clan you’d like your cat to be in, or if you’d like to be in a tribe, a kittypet, rogue or loner. There are also options for becoming wolves and other animals, the application for which I won’t be explaining in this step-by-step guide as I’ve not experienced the process myself.
There are five clans;
DawnClan
StreamClan
DarkClan
PineClan[/ul]
Each Clan is individual and has their own unique perks, if you can’t decide straight away it’s a good idea to explore existing posts to get a feel of the area and those you’ll be roleplaying with. Just click on the links above to explore the Clan territory.
If you’ve chosen your Clan it’s time to move onto the next step.
Step 3 ~ Creating Your Cat
‘Cats in the Clans’ is unique in the fact that it uses a ranking system, just like the real Warrior world you start of as a kit and progress forwards. Don’t worry, high-level and staff positions may be available if you ask.
I’ll be explaining the process of becoming a kit in the Clan.
First of all you need to choose who you wish to be your mother from the Queens available in each Clan, sometimes Queens will have options for you to become a biological kit but it is likely you will become an adopted kit (after all there’s only so many generations that can keep going if the cats are too interrelated).
But where are my parents?
Well the history of Cats in the Clans declares that prior to this time of peace the Clans are at war, so unless your parents have been unfortunate and become ill from blackcough, or hit by a monster on the thunderpath there is a high chance that they may have died in battle.
There may be chances for you to become the biological kit of a warrior couple, so look out for these opportunities if you don’t want to be an adopted kit.

Back to me
Right, so now you’ve selected your mother…but wait you say, I didn’t include PineClan? Well that’s because PineClan is relatively new and doesn’t have much information that I know of.
If your mother is in StreamClan then you have to fill out this form;
Name:
Gender:
Looks:
Personality:
Wanted Mother:
And post Get Your Mother Here ~ Kit List
If she’s in DuskClan then you have to fill out this form;
Name:
Personality:
Looks:
Wanted Mother:
And post in the Nursery Kit List
If she’s in DawnClan or DarkClan then you can simply skip this step, as there is nowhere similar for you to post.
Step 3 ~ Filling Out a Joining
A joining is you application into a Clan, it covers the basic information of your character.
The form is;
Name:
Looks:
Personality:
Mother:
Abilities: ex: Speed, stamina, intelligence, ect
And don’t worry, the Queens are listed in the Joinings, which I’ll be linking to below and also, in the side table and in Step 2 of this guide.
The form is pretty simple, so we won’t worry about it too much, so I’ll move on and tell you where to post your completed form.
DuskClan, DawnClan, StreamClan, DarkClan & PineClan
Step 4 ~Character Profiles
Now that you’ve got the basic information for your character sorted, chosen their Clan and adopted/biological mother, it’s time to go into a little bit more detail. Now remember, if you don’t finish this step put (work) in the thread title of your character.
Character profiles go here.
Create a new thread, the title should be the name of your character, this makes it easier for other people to locate them. I personally find it helpful to include your Clan in (brackets), as I think this allows you to identify those in your Clan quickly.
The form;
Name:
Clan or pack:
Animal:
Mother:
Father:
Gender:
Personality:
Looks: No Pics for this!
History: Unless kit have history. Kits, when a bit older add onto.
Ability: Only 2
Mate: If you don't have one just put N/A
Again, it’s rather simple and doesn’t really need explaining, just fill it out.
Don’t forget, the character profile should be updated, for example take Silverstar, the profile of Silverkit would not be relevant to Silverstar. This is because as characters grow their personalities shift and change, experiences mould them into slightly different characters. Their history would grow longer as they interact with different characters and experience new plots. But most importantly, their name will change and it’s no good if somebody’s searching for your character ‘Foxglove’ if you’ve still got them filed under ‘Foxkit’.
So now you have a full-fledged character. What’s next?
Step 5 ~ Posting
There are plenty of threads for you to reply to, just make sure they are younger than 3 weeks old, but you could always make your own. Since your character is a kit a good place to start would be in your Clan’s nursery.
When do I get to go up a rank?
As a kit you have 0 posts (although by now you should have 2, 3 if you’ve posted in the Hello board or are in StreamClan or DuskClan).
When you reach 50 posts your kit is ready to become an apprentice.
At 150 posts you’re now ready to become a warrior.
There is a helpful level meter in your mini-profile that keeps track on your rank progress, keep an eye on it if you’re eager to move up the ranks in your Clan.
Don’t worry, these 150 posts don’t have to be specifically roleplay. Just by interacting with the fellow community in general boards can help you in moving up. So basically, the more you get involved the higher you go.
