Seedykit scrambled from the nursery into the cool, refreshing night air and paused, slightly unsteadily, as she surveyed her surroundings. Although she had been out into the main camp before, she was still unaccustomed to the unusually hard ground covered in dirt and fallen leaves. "This is strange!" She mewed, feeling giddy with excitement at the thought of catching her first real prey whilst breaking the rules at the same time!
She closed her eyes and sniffed noisily, attempting to distinguish the scent of any potential meals from the vast array of odours that bombarded her nostrils. "You have to be very quiet or you might scare off all the prey!" She whispered to Loinkit, feeling very important and knowledgeable about the art of hunting. "Or even worse," she lowered her voice further, "You might wake one of the adults!"

Shrewkit was resting in her mother's nest when she saw the kit walk out of the den. With Shrewkit's weak health conditions it was important she got lots of sleep and rest, but she didn't feel the need to sleep. With curiosity pushing her to the entrance of the den she slipped out. Cool night air greeting her as she stepped out. This would be her first time out of the den and far from the nest. Inside she was nervous, but she keep her eyes on the strange kitten. Unsure about what she was doing Shrewkit approached her. "Um pardon me, but may I ask what you are doing," Shrewkit asked in a normal speaking voice.

She nearly fell sideways in her haste to avoid Lionkit’s swipe before letting out a small yowl in playful retaliation. It had been quite some time since she had felt this alive with excitement – the nursery was usually so dull and nothing of any interest ever happened. But now they were on the other side of the thick brambles and it seemed as if there was another whole new world to explore.
"It’s fine!" She mewed reassuringly. "It’s only Shrewkit. She won’t tell on us… You won’t, right?" She narrowed her eyes in concern as she shifted her attention to the other she-kit. The young cat was still appearing to be under the weather and Seedykit briefly pondered over how and why the kit had decided to join them. She eventually came to the conclusion that the promise of adventure and the thrill of the hunt had led the young kit to join them.
"Urm, you’re welcome to join us but only if you’re feeling completely be-" She was cut off by a sudden movement out of the corner of her eye and she whipped her head around to see a particularly large beetle making its way along the edge of the warriors’ den. "Look, Lionkit!" She was barely able to contain her excitement. "The hunt begins…"

She squeaked in alarm, scurrying over to Lionkit as quickly as she could manage. The scattered leaves billowed around him in the cool night breeze as if they were trying to enshroud him and deflect the young kit’s aid.
She barrelled through them, nearly stepping on the other kit in the process but managing to gain her footing just in time. "Are you okay?!" she nearly squawked in her haste to get all of the words out. "You’re not hurt, are you? Your leg must be hurting you! Should I get Littleleaf or something?" She knew nothing about herbs or berries that could help her friend who she believed was evidently suffering.
In the mist of the chaos, the beetle indifferently continued on its journey with the same, sluggish pace. The antics of small cats posed no threat or interest to the creature and as simply as that, the young warriors lost their prey.

The young tom lay sprawled on the floor of the camp, his back leg twisted behind him at an awkward angle and his fur sticking up at strange angles. Dry powdery mud clung to his fur like a shy kit did to its mother when meeting new people. Lionkit watched the clumsy kit charge straight towards him with his eyes wide open. What was she doing?
Speechless he allowed her to fuss over him momentarily, thankful that she’d succeeded in stopping in time.
His eyes darted over to where their prey had been. “I’m fine.” The tabby snapped suddenly, quickly pulling himself up onto his paws, even though the movement caused a sharp pain to shoot through his leg. “Look what you’ve done!” He yowled, stamping front paw on the dry earth.
“I’ll just have to go and catch it myself.” Lionkit spat, limping off determinedly nearer to the entrance of the camp. Word Count: 153OOC: Sorry I took so long, your post got flooded in the ‘most recent posts’ so I never saw it, I’ll look through the boards more often to check if you’ve replied. Also, I don’t think there are any active Medicine Cats, so there’s not much they can do about Lionkit’s injury in this thread.

She winced at the young kit’s rebuke and shrank back, feeling utterly helpless. She had never seen Lionkit so angry or resolute before. Could catching this beetle really mean so much to him?
As he rose on his injured leg, her eyes widened in horror and she stumbled forwards to position herself in front of her determined friend. "No, Loinkit!" She pleaded, "look, you’re hurting yourself!" It was clear that putting weight on his hind leg was causing him a great deal of pain. "It’s only just a little beetle… It really doesn’t matter all that much! We could always catch another one later!"
This is all my fault. The sudden rush of guilt was nearly overwhelming for the young cat and she fought back the urge to cry out for her mother. Although, with all the ruckus the two kits were causing, they were bound to attract attention soon enough.
OOC: No worries! You've obviously also been very busy making lots of signatures so it's perfectly understandable.

Posiekit watched in terror as Lionkit, being as stubborn as he is, haul himself up and limp away. She longed to yowl for him to stop but Seedykit already did that and it failed. Posiekit rustled her paws from her hiding spot in a bramble bush and sat up the tiniest bit to fell bramble thorns scratch her skin through her thin coat of ginger fur and muzzle. She let out a little wimper and crouched down again. She lifted a paw and placed it on her muzzle. Posiekit's eyes watered at the sting in her muzzle and she pulled her paw away from her muzzle to reveal blood. She wanted to care but she didn't, she was more concerned about Lionkit and how he was going to get back to camp. Posiekit wondered if she should reveal herself to Seedykit but decided against it to see what Seedykit would do. Blinking her eyes a couple of times did the trick so she could see what Seedykit's reaction was. And...just like her....terror. But she sensed that she was feeling something else....guilt? How could she feel guilty for what Lionkit did?

The other kit didn’t seem to be following, that’s her fault I’ll just have to catch all the prey myself, he huffed inwardly, knowing that any unnecessary sounds would scare of the already scarce prey.
The drought had been damaging to the cats, extreme heat and very little water, he’d heard that the Medicine Cat’s had become worried, apparently some herbs required for remedies had been dying off. The drought had been even more damaging to the prey, dependent as they were on plants and herbs to sustain themselves.
That just made them weaker, easier to catch.
Easy prey.
Even to a bulky young tom crashing through the undergrowth. He’d been told many times that one should be wary of what wandered the territory at night, why do you think we hunt during the day and sleep during the night?
Catching sight of a mouse, its skin thin and translucent, its bones poking sharply from beneath its skin, the creature was dazed, simply sat there timidly.
Lionkit forewent his mockery of the hunter’s crouch, which he’d resolutely learnt, as it put too much pressure on his injured leg. Instead he moved slowly on heavy paws, trampling what he was sure were valuable Medicine Cat herbs.
The mouse didn’t even flinch.
The orange-furred kit picked it up carefully in his jaws, keen to bring it back to camp and show everybody that he would make a worthy warrior one day. Word Count: 239

Posiekit watched wide-eyed as Lionkit trampled on Medicine Herbs and stalked a mouse. It seemed as if Lionkit didn't care if he had an injured leg and was trampling on herbs. "Lionkit" she whispered. Realizing that she said that out loud she clamped her mouth shut and shook her head, sending tiny drops of scarlet blood flying onto the soft dirt in front of her paws. She sat up feeling more brambles tear at her fur and shook her head again. Letting a quiet yawn escape her jaws she glanced around, only to realize that Lionkit might see her. Ducking her head down she slid out of the bush and crouched in the thick undergrowth hoping that Lionkit won't see her ginger coat.

Unable to prevent her friend from further injuring himself, she chocked back a gasp and instead watched in horror as Lionkit determinedly hunted and successfully caught a mouse whilst only further worsening his injury. She was no medicine cat but she could almost sense the strain the young kit was under from simply putting weight on his leg.
His ignoring her and completely disregarding her urgent tones began to infuriate the young kit. Her concern had quickly turned into annoyance and she wasted no time in conveying her emotions to the other cat. "Lionkit!" She spat, digging her claws into the soft ground as if they were tearing through his fur. "Look at what you’ve done to yourself! Why, Lionkit, why?"
She had not meant for their little expedition to turn out like this. Why hadn’t she taken his injured leg into account? It hadn’t seemed all that important at the time and Lionkit had appeared to have been able to move around on it just fine… If he only he hadn’t tried to catch that beetle!
Her sudden outburst had drained the young kit of the last of her energy and she bowed her small head in defeat. "We should probably get you back to the den. They’re all going to be so worried about you." She muttered, keeping her gaze fixed to the ground. At the moment, she couldn’t bare to look at the young kit. Whether it was out of shame or anger, she couldn’t quite tell.
Turning away from him, she began to make her way back to the nursery in the hopes that he would follow her. She had been so focused on Lionkit, her conflicted emotions in turmoil, that she had completely failed to notice the concealed Posiekit or her injury.

The young kit stumbled forwards, drunk on his own euphoria, whilst the mangled body of the mouse swayed from side to side in his mouth. His heavy pawsteps scattered the leaves around him as he followed the trail of crushed herbs, for he knew they would lead him back to Camp. On his slow and careful journey Lionkit began to notice a scent that clung to the soil and nearby herbs, the closer he got the stronger it became. The DuskClan kit recognised the scent as belonging to Seedykit and he let out a low, raspy hiss of agitation, how dare she leave him alone?
Here.
How dare she leave him alone here.
Here where the tall trees stretched upwards to the star-filled sky, their twisted and gnarled branches desperate to be one with NightClan. A yowl of wind tore through the leaves, causing his ginger-fur to stand up on ends and a shiver to run down his spine. His pawsteps slowed and his grip loosened until the mouse fell free, it landed on the soil with a soft thump which was barely audible over the racing of his heart, where it would be forgotten.
What was that?
The amber-eyed kit whipped his head from side to side, his eyes stretched wide so as to absorb as much detail as possible. His eyesight had since adjusted to the darkened night, so every nook and cranny was visible, a new hiding place for a nocturnal beast that could eat him whole.
Feeling as if his heart was about to burst Lionkit bunched up his muscles and prepared to run.
And then he saw it.
Through the warped limbs of the brambles he could see them, a pair of large hazel eyes, peeking out at him and without thinking he bolted. His small legs carrying him in leaps and bounds far beyond his wildest expectations, the stress on his back muscles was so great he feared that it would give way at any moment. Leaving him prey to this monstrous beast. Word Count: 339OOC: The hazel eyes are meant to be Posiekit, I wonder if he'll ever know she was there?
