Quartzkit's eyes opened to the same blackness as before. She blinked and remembered everyone telling her that as soon as she opened her eyes,the world would be brighter. They lied and Quartzkit was angry. The world was not brighter. The anger was replaced was utter horror and an overwhelming amount of misery and anxiety. Tears slid down her face. She had heard the queens talking about it. Was this what they called blind? She closed her eyes and opened them, still crying. The world didn't go clear and bright and beautiful like she hoped, just a barely visible outline of the nursery and the kits playing. She let out a discouraging, heart-wrenching cry that could be heard clear through the camp.

Bluefall had delivered this she-cat now named Quartzkit. She was blind."Quartzkit I'm sorry. You may not be able to become a warrior. Again I'm truly sorry." The Medicine Cat spoke sadly.

"W-What do you mean? I have to be a warrior..." She stumbled over Bluefall's word. Quartzkit couldn't contain herself. She curled up in a ball and sobbed. Bluefall's truthfull words crushed her spirit in one final blow. She repeated the same words over and over. 'I have to, I have to, I have to...' The little she-cat quickly composed herself, her ears flicking. She turned towards Bluefall, guided by her nose and the gentle sound of her breathing. "But I don't want to be a medicine cat." She said, her voice hard and cold as her eyes.

"How! You don't know what it's like!" She screeched and pulled away, waking up any remaining cats in the clan. She could see a very, very faint blur where Bluefall was, but it wasn't enough to be considered seeing. She didn't want to hurt Bluefall, but she couldn't stand the emptiness that she felt. Her crying turned into incoherent babbling. Suddenly, she smelt someone else and turned her back on them.

Owlflight approached the medicine cat. He had watched as the kit exploded with sorrow. He smiled at Bluefall. "She'll be fine." He whispered softly.

Quartzkit's tiny kit face contorted into na expression of anger. "How do you know!" She screeched. "How do you know it will be fine!"

Owlflight sighed at the kit. "There may be some things I don't know, but I know that we will try and do out best to make sure that you will be comfortable and happy." He said. "We'll discuss you becoming a warrior later, for now enjoy being a kit." He said Giving the kit a lick on the head before muttering a few words into her ear.

Quartzkit nodded and looked to Bluefall. "I'm sorry. It's been a hard day."

Owlflight nodded. "I'm going to speak with Darkstar." He left the nursery sending a smile at Bluefall that hopefully was recieved as good luck. Quartz

Quartzkit listened to his pawsteps and realized what Bluefall could do to help her. "Bluefall? I want you to take me aorund the camp to meet everyone." She said. "I want to memorize everyone's scents. "I mean, will you?" Quartzkit faced where she asumed Bluefall was standing.

Quartzkit almost protested when Bluefall picked her up. She didn't argue though and wondered where Bluefall would take her first. And who she would see.

Quartzkit gave a deafeted sigh. She wasn't really in the mood to put up a fight. While being jostled about as Bluefall carried her, she took in her scent. She smelled sweet but the herbs, specifically poppy seeds and marigold, covered up most of the scent. She put Bluefall's scent into her memeory. "Who all lives in this den?" She asked, smelling and sensing the difference from being out in the camp.
