Thread Title: The Butterfly’s Tornado [CLOSED] Participants: Lionpaw, Posiepaw Minimum Word Count: 50 Plot: When Posiepaw’s family were murdered during her kithood it could be said that the event was like a butterfly flapping its wings, a small event that would soon spiral out of control into something much larger, something like a tornado. Posiepaw’s history is revealed to Lionpaw who promises the apprentice that he’ll track down her father and kill him. Together the two must fulfil their promises. But where will this tornado lead them? The road to the Place of No Stars is paved with good intentions, after all.
*Note: - Place of No Stars is the opposite of StarClan in the books, where the bad kitties go. Don’t know the equivalent on this site, Place of No Night? I’ll change it when I know. Also, if anybody can come up with a better plot description, feel free.

Lionpaw sat stiffly, his head half-turned to the sky half squinting in the fierce sun which bathed the camp in its ferocious heat. Green leaf would be approaching soon but the drought still seemed ever present, the soil beneath their paws had cracked and split, the herbs wilted and even the prey couldn’t take the heat.
The young apprentice was glad he’d finally shed leaf bare coat, unlucky for him the thicker fur hadn’t malted until new leaf had brought along the drought.
He wondered, eyeing the sky carefully, where did NightClan go when it was day? They weren’t called DayClan were they and no matter how sharp a cat’s eye, there was no hint of silverpelt amongst that blue sky.
“It’s just a story.” He mumbled sourly, clawing at the dry earth with his paws. A story made by elder’s to produce hope in times of trouble, that’s all NightClan was. Word Count: 152.

Posiepaw padded forwards and nudged Lionpaw when she saw him staring at the sky. "You okay?" she asked with worry in her eyes. When she had found out that they were adopted siblings she was determined to love him in a brother-sister way. Sitting down she sighed and looked at a cloud and wondered how long she would be able to hide her background from him.

The familiar scent surrounded him before the sound of soft pawsteps could be heard against the hard ground. A well-known feeling of joy erupted in his stomach, like the seeds of that flower, gently growing, hidden beneath the soil until at last the green stem was strong enough to break through the surface and grow towards the sun where it would finally flower. “Posiepaw.” He greeted his sister warmly, turning his head towards her, the idea of having a family had warmed on him. Filling the large abyss that had formed upon the death of his parents, even if it wasn’t biological, it didn’t mean it was worth any less.
“Of course.” Lionpaw mewed cheerfully, batting away the dark thoughts that had begun to take over his mind like poisonous weeds. “But how about you?” He asked her seriously, noting her sigh and distant gaze. Word Count: 145.

Blinking she answered "y-yeah...I'm fine" smiling the best you can when your hiding something she said "Just tired". Laying down to feel the soft grass she remembered that there wasn't any soft grass anymore thanks to the drout. Glancing sideways at him she pawed silently at the dirt and any remains of grass which were now dried up stalks of yellow. "How's training going?" she asked hoping to keep the awkward topic of family and feelings out.

The young tom studied her in concern, there was something odd about her, she seemed very much like a wilting flower that was bending beneath the pressure of the morning’s dew, it was bending but it wasn’t broken. Not yet.
He purred softly, nudging his sister with his head before speaking energetically. “It’s great.” He chirped in delight, thinking back to the training sessions with his mentor. “I mean, we haven’t gotten far yet.” Lionpaw corrected himself, realising that it would be stupid to go on about how great it was when he’d yet to get close to finishing. “It seems easy, but I’m sure it’ll get really hard, especially when we start battle training.” The young cat explained, the prospect of battle training had begun to worry him slightly, he knew that with his weakened leg it would be more difficult to him but he didn’t want to let his Clan down by being unable to fight.
“How about you?” He asked her curiously, he knew that Posiepaw had recently started training with Rivermist, it seemed unusual but due to the low number of warriors a lot of mentors had more than one apprentice. The ginger tom couldn’t help but worry that Posiepaw’s training might suffer due Rivermist having two apprentice’s. Word Count: 212

"Um...great" she mumbled. Then she explained how when Rivermist was taking Stormpaw around the borders she snuck up on them, and then how finally Rivermist decided to train her. Posiepaw griped the end of a dried up end of a what-used-to-be grass with her teeth and pulled, but the blade being so dry and thin it slid out from between her teeth.

Lionpaw listened to his sister’s recollection fondly feeling a wave of peace overcome him, he found it relaxing to just let Posiepaw’s voice wash over him, her words forming pictures in his mind and allowing him to imagine what it would have been like if he were there.
“Stormpaw?” The apprentice mewed quietly to himself, thinking of the leader’s son, as his mentor Lionpaw had been given the opportunity to interact Silverstar and had grown to respect her as a warrior instead of just a figure head. He briefly wondered if Stormpaw would eventually become as strong a warrior, both mentally and physically, as his mother was.
“They say that my dad was well respected as a warrior.” He informed his companion wistfully, he had never met his father, for Adderheart had died in the battle between the Clans before he had been born. “I hope that one day, I can be as a great as him.” Lionpaw mewed quietly, tilting his head up to the starless sky, was his father really up there? With NightClan in Silverpelt?
Ridiculous.
The ginger-furred tom turned his gaze towards Posiepaw. “How about your father?” He asked her curiously, realising that he didn’t know all too much about Posiepaw’s family, before she’d joined the Clan and been adopted by his own adoptive mother. Word Count: 219

She stopped pawing at the cracked dirt and froze. She was dreading this question and hoped he would never ask it. But, being Lionpaw, he asked. Sucking in a shallow breath she said "he doesn't matter". Rolling over slightly to hide some scars on her back she said "I mean...he's..." giving up she buried her face in her paws so hopefully Lionpaw wouldn't notice her devasted reaction.

Lionpaw flinched slightly at her words, he’d hoped that all they’d experienced as kits and apprentices together would bring them closer, close enough that they could confide in each other.
He was wrong.
The orange-furred tom turned his head away from his adopted sister, he wanted her to confide everything in him; her hopes for the future, her fears and her past. “I’m sorry.” The young tom apologised quietly, keeping his gaze fixed on the blue sky, had he been wrong to think she would willingly confide in him? After all, it’s not like he could protect her from whatever haunted her, a skinny young tom who hadn’t yet grown into his paws.
“One day.” He whispered to her quietly rising to his paws. “One day, please tell me, everything.” Lionpaw gave her a nudge with his head. “I’ll protect you, that’s what big brothers are for, right?” The young apprentice informed her determinedly, lifting his head up proudly and puffing out his chest, he’d not yet grown into them, but one day he would master his paws. He would become a Warrior capable of protecting what he held dear. Word Count: 190

Taking her face out of her paws just enough to see Lionpaw flinch she felt a pang of guilt. Lowering her eyes again to the dry earth she didn't know what to say. Finally she gave up and sat up. "My father" she began "was not anything you describe of yours". Blinking her eyes of tears she looked at him "he was vicious...a monster...someone that only a mouse-brain would want to be". Stopping she tryed to regain herself but the silent sobs that were racking her body made her give up and just sit there looking at the clouds that formed shapes.

Silverstar’s apprentice turned his head to look over his shoulder, Posiepaw looked so small, a patch of orange fur amongst the dusty brown soil. He gave a short sigh of indecision, shifting from paw to paw. “But you knew him.” Lionpaw mewed, eventually, in yearning, to know his father was something he’d always desired, a burning hunger that clawed deep in his belly, a desire that would always go unfilled. To know if he was as brave as the stories said, as gentle and as kind. All of this, which he’d never know.
Was it better to know your father was a monster than not to know him at all? He didn’t know.
On swift paws the apprentice turned around, and amongst billows of dust flopped to the ground and settled beside his sister. He gave her a small nudge with his paw, hoping to offer her some cheery resolution or a comforting story but his mouth always did speak before his brain. “Do you reckon rogues go to NightClan?” The young cat whispered, as a kit he’d overheard some older cats mention Posiepaw’s origins, her lack of Clan heritage had been a hot topic for discussion, but it didn’t bother Lionpaw so he hadn’t thought it prudent to bring the topic up before now. Lowering her head to look at Lionpaw she stared at him with dull eyes. "Yes I knew him...although I wish I hadn't" Brightning up she said "I wish my father was like yours" purring in amusment she added "you talk how great yours is and I talk about horrible mine is, we're like opposites, thee only thing holding us together is our adopted mother and..." glancing at Lionpaws ginger pelt she added "and our pelt color"

Lionpaw let out a soft chuckle, despite the content of their conversation; he found the remark by Posiepaw about their coat colour oddly humorous. “I wish he was too.” The young cat murmured softly, maybe, if Posiepaw’s father was like his then the she-cat would have a better chance at life, a happier life.
I don’t want you to be happy. He thought sullenly, turning his face away from his sister, hoping she wouldn’t sense his dark thoughts. No. He didn’t want Posiepaw to be happy, not if it meant she wouldn’t be here, with him.
He was selfish.
He kicked at the dust with his paw, sending clouds of it billowing into the air and stood up suddenly, scared by his own thoughts. Word Count: 124

So far obilivious to Lionpaw's thoughts she lowered her eyes to the ground and laid her head on her paws and thought about her mother. Hazeltwist had kindly adopted her but that never distracted her from keeping her thoughts to wandering to her mother...just as evil as her father, in her opinion. Some cats say that she's wasn't evil, she just didn't wanted kits...so she abandoned them and ordered her mate to kill them. Every day she wondered what her litter-mates would be like, their personality...everything but she remembers how many there were. There were four kits, 3 she-cats and 1 tom, Patila, Posie, Pansy, and Pollo. Patila and Pollo were both dark grey like their mother but Posie and Pansy took after their father to the ginger tabby. She wondered if Lionpaw would like Patila, Pansy, and Pollo and if they would even be in the clan. She has noticed that if her mother and father were loving parents they would still be loners and wouldn't have met Lionpaw, Stormpaw, or Smokepaw. Glancing up at Lionpaw she narrowed her eyes at how strange he was acting.
