Silverstar came into camp after a hunting patrol. She carried a mouse in her jaws. She dropped it into the fresh kill pile and went towards the apprentice den to pick up Lionpaw for battle training. "Lionpaw, it is time to train." Silverstar called to her apprentice. Hoping she was well heard.

Lionpaw was resting despondently in the Apprentice’s Den, idly flipping his tail from side to side as he watched a moth land on the edge of the moss, as a kit he would have eagerly took this as a challenge and attempted to catch the dull-coloured insect but as an apprentice he’d been forced to open his eyes to the true difficulties his Clan faced, a moth couldn’t feed them.
Letting out a sigh he turned away, the other apprentices were all on training sessions with their mentors, the ginger tom had recently finished his hunting training and was eager to learn how to defend his Clan from attack but his mentor was the Leader of DuskClan and had much more pressing matters to attend. The low amount of Warriors in their Clan meant the Leader couldn’t be spared from Hunting Patrol and he had to wait patiently for her to finish his duties.
“Lionpaw, it is time to train.” The young apprentice scrambled to his paws, sending the moth darting away into the air. With excited movements he tore through the Den until he arrived before his Leader.
“Are we hunting again today?” He asked cautiously, the tom knew that was hunting was important in sustaining his Clan but his clumsy movements caused by his limp sent prey fleeing more often than most apprentices and he was hoping, instead, that he could take a day off from being hideously embarrassed by his lack of hunting skills. " Let's begin with learning. Battling is a team effort. It involves sense of smell, hearing and keen eye sight." Silverstar explained. She waited to see if Lionpaw had any questions about battle training.

The apprentice followed his Leader with eager pawsteps, he came to a stop slowly, his paws finally coming to rest on the crunchy blanket of leaves. The ginger tom lifted his head and faced Silverstar with a serious expression, his amber eyes shined fiercely as questions flitted through his mind like butterflies through the forest. “Is it necessary?” The young cat asked her carefully, his ear twitched as the sounds of their territory filled him.
It appeared calm and peaceful, birds tweeted to each other from their branches high in the trees, a gentle wind caused the leaves to rustle, a cool relief from the burning sun and from the soil small shoots of plant life struggled to break the surface, desperate to live despite the drought.
But none of this suggested violence, there didn’t seem to be any antagonistic creatures stalking through the depths of the forest territory and the other Clans seemed unwilling to cause trouble, too busy facing their own struggles, there was no need to learn how to fight, was there?
“Why do we need to learn to fight?” Lionpaw questioned his leader, his eagerness causing the words to hurry off of his tongue, barely pausing for breath between each word until they tumbled together in a slurred sentence. “We don’t have any enemies, do we?” Word Count: 220OOC: Lionpaw doesn’t know about the wolves on the territory, obviously. I’m right in thinking DuskClan is a forest-like territory, aren’t I? If not I don’t know where I got that idea from.
